Star Struck?

Nope, not me anyways. I have to admit, due to my work, I get to meet lots of famous and semi famous folks. It doesn't do anything for me. I can recall Kareem Abdul Jabbar saying in an interview, "I'm not really into giving autographs. I'd rather shake their hand and talk story a little." As a young fan/boy, I didn't understand that too much. Nowadays I do. I value the same and go with that flow. With that said, there's a star in town. Namely, my home town.

I was noticing a bunch of big trucks and an endless caravan of shuttle vans driving up the street from my house recently, so I went to check it out. Come to find out, George Clooney is shooting "The Descendants" right up from my house.

Like I said, I'm not a famous person hound, so I just kinda talked story with this braddah and told him of all the ghosts up in that area. He wasn't too thrilled as he's the overnight house sitter....

Also got to see one of our sponsored artists, Imipono Cabrinha, winner of the 2005 Aloha Week Falsetto contest. Unfortunately, my picture came out junky. So see his pic on our website, www.koaloha.com

Have to admit, though my pix aren't the most exciting, it was indeed exciting to see all the hustle and bustle of people moving around and all that it takes to put on such a large production. Stay posted, more food to come. Lunch with Pali at Tokkuri Tei.

I think I'm different from you. If I see someone famous, I will approach them. But if they are busy or don't seem in the mood, I say my greetings then leave them alone. I will not hound them.

Ahanakokolele, you when tell da bruddah one obake story? He going stay up all night now. Worse, he might come pounding on your door and you gotta go babysit him

That's so cool one big star stay filming up by your place. I too wouldn't go hounding them. If I say hi and they snob me, that's their problem not mine. But would be nice if they come mingle with da locals. Gotta show da Aloha Spirit when in Hawaii.

I still waiting for Pops Autograph :D

Apparently Clooney did not know to whom he spoke. Else he would have been asking (begging!) for an autograph!!!

Thanks, too, for the update on what used to be Theo. H. Davis building. Nary a one of those businesses you listed on your last blog sounded familiar. I guess, things have changed -- a lot!

    Nathan,
Well, actually, I do sometimes. It depends on my mood and the star's mood. I figgure, "They'll forget me anyways, so what's the big deal?" One on one, I'll talk stories with anyone. I love that stuff.

    Ynaku,
Aiya! I forgot about me pappy's handiwork. Go email me again with yo address and den its on da way.

    wafan,
Ha ha, thanks. I actually didn't even get close to meeting him. It's kinda like he was the president or something. Soooo much security and bodies walking around. Nuts.

    Hello Alan! :)

Sounds exciting to have a movie crew in your neighborhood.

  6. Keahi Pelayo:

More evidence that Honolulu is a great site to film a movie in.
    Aloha,
    Keahi
